About Us

In the summer of 1984, Gene Rahll and Steve Berner opened the doors of Rabern Rental Center to the public. At that time, there were less than 10 employees and the inventory looked quite different. The store was mainly aimed towards party rentals and small homeowner equipment. As of 2024, we have over 70 employees and we carry heavy industrial equipment and almost everything a homeowner or contractor would ever need.

Gene continues to be Steve’s mentor even though he retired in 2010. Around that time Steve took on another partner, Seth Havens. Seth embodied all of Rabern’s Core Values and more. He was an outstanding person who made Rabern what it is today. He pushed Steve to get into more heavy equipment and he drove some of the biggest years in Rabern history. Unfortunately, Seth left us too soon in 2019. Steve continues their mission to better serve their community far and wide by extending the range of equipment and opening new stores. In 2022, Steve decided to sell 70% of the business to Manitex International to help grow the company while still retaining 30% ownership of what he and his partners built along the way. With all these changes, Steve has been committed to keeping the principles of integrity, friends & family, customer service, and our local communities the main culture of Rabern.

Throughout the 40 years Rabern Rentals has been open we have seen many changes; logos, new and old customers, equipment we carry, but the integrity of the business has always stayed the same – taking care of our customers. We pride ourselves on the way we treat our customers whether we are on the clock or out serving our community. Rabern participates in many local community events in numerous forms. We love to show off our barbecue skills by cooking for customers and sporting events throughout the year. Rabern also loves to volunteer with our local charities, whether it is a donation of equipment or showing up to help in person. We believe that if you take care of your community, it will take care of you.
